Apps, music, and any other content purchased with an Apple account will be able to be transferred from one account to another. Apple has just announced the good news in a note published on its support pages. The only problem is that not all users will be able to take advantage of it. At least, for now.
Group all your purchases on a single account
Why would you want to migrate purchases from one Apple account to another? If you use a secondary account that you dedicate to purchases, and your devices are connected to another account, migrating purchases from the secondary account to your main account will allow you to manage everything from the same account. However, this transfer from the secondary account to the main account is only possible under certain conditions.
Both accounts must already be connected to the same iPhone or iPad. The main account must be connected to iCloud, while the secondary account must be connected in the Media and purchases menu. In addition, the secondary account must not be part of a family sharing. Both accounts must also be configured in the same region, and two-factor authentication must be enabled on both. Note that you will have to spend the remaining balance on the secondary account before starting the transfer process. And for good reason, "the secondary Apple account can no longer be used for multimedia content and purchases" indicates Apple on its site.
Users in the European Union deprived of transfer
Unfortunately, this new feature, although very practical on paper, will not, for the moment, be offered to everyone. Apple indicates that "This feature is not available to users in the European Union, the United Kingdom and India.".
The Cupertino firm does not give any details as to the reasons for this limitation. However, there is a good chance that this is for regulatory reasons. There is still good hope that this option will arrive soon in our latitudes. The support pages (1, 2) for Transferring purchases from one Apple account to another have indeed already been translated into French.
