Apple would postpone the launch of the homepod with screen, it is confirmed

Apple is reportedly preparing to storm the smart home market, currently dominated by Google and Amazon. In the shadows, the Cupertino giant is reportedly preparing to launch a variety of new products dedicated to home automation. Among the products mentioned in leaks in recent months, there is a device halfway between the HomePod and the iPad, that is, a connected speaker with Siri topped with a touch screen.

Delay for the HomePod with screen

Initially expected in March 2025, the hybrid HomePod could ultimately be delayed until next fall. According to the latest information obtained by Mark Gurman, journalist at Bloomberg, "Apple's first major foray" into the smart home segment is still months away from launch. Last month, he had already hinted that the development of the device could "take longer" than expected.

With his latest newsletter, the journalist corroborates the predictions of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. By inquiring with the industry, the analyst was able to establish that Apple's connected display was not about to enter production on time for a release in the first quarter of 2025.

Apple is reportedly waiting for some new features from Apple Intelligence

To explain this delay of a few months, the Bloomberg informant points to the importance of software updates in the use of the hybrid HomePod. The user experience of the device would indeed rely largely on the future AI functions of Apple Intelligence. In fact, it makes more sense for the Californian giant to wait for some of the suite's new features, including a smarter Siri, before launching the product on the market. Several of the essential functions would be announced at WWDC 2025 next June.

In these conditions, all eyes are turning to the September 2025 keynote, dedicated to the new iPhones. It is quite possible that Apple will wait for its traditional annual conference to unveil its offering dedicated to the connected home. Furthermore, it is also not inconceivable that the HomePod will be announced in October, during a second keynote, or even only through a press release.
