Officially, Nintendo must present its next console before March 31st. But in reality, it is impossible to stop the torrent of leaks and stolen photos. Images of components, such as the motherboard, have been published on the internet, which seems to indicate that this Switch 2 is already in production.
No more patience to wait for Nintendo
While waiting for a "Nintendo Direct" that would finally free us from this exhausting wait, accessory manufacturers are no longer holding back. Some no longer hesitate to announce their products for the next console, based on the technical specifications that are circulating in the industry. At CES, exhibitors are even displaying their accessories, like Genki, which has been the talk of the town for the past few hours.
Visitors to the company's stand can admire some of the upcoming accessories for the Switch 2 on video... with the added bonus of a very realistic representation of the future console! Granted, this is a 3D rendering, but it compiles all the rumors heard about the device: the magnetic Joy-Con and the mysterious optical port inside (to use the controllers as a mouse, like the Legion Go?), the presence of a USB-C port on the upper edge, we even have a little idea of the dock.
Numerama grilled the employees present at the Genki booth, where two models of the console are also on display. They claim to be in possession of a Switch 2 purchased on a "black market" where anyone wealthy enough can acquire one. The prop maker doesn't give any details about the software or the interface of the device, which raises serious doubts about the reality of what he says.
It's hard to sort out the truth from the falsehood, but there is no longer any doubt that things are moving a lot a few weeks (days?) before the console's presentation. Could Nintendo feel forced to speed up the pace to cut the grass under the feet of all these leaks? We shouldn't be long in finding out...
As for the marketing itself, it could happen as early as April, according to these same CES prop makers.
