Ayaneo 3: the portable and modular pc console at the same time

We'll be hearing a lot about portable consoles in the coming weeks, with the highlight being the CES in Las Vegas, which will be the scene of several announcements (starting with those from Lenovo). But in this bustling market, everyone has a chance to shine, and Ayaneo intends to make a place for itself in the sun.

Choice in controls

The Chinese manufacturer, which has specialized in Android and Windows portable PC consoles since 2021, has unveiled a new model that is out of the ordinary. The Ayaneo 3 integrates a modular system for controls. Six "Magic" modules will be available, each of which can be replaced by another simply by removing it and replacing it in the designated location.

Several configurations are available: sticks, buttons, d-pad, Steam Deck-style touchpads... Enough to give users great freedom of action depending on the games. Removing a module is done by a small motor that is activated from the console interface.

The rest of the technical characteristics are just as interesting, since the Ayaneo 3 works with a Ryzen 7 8840U or Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip (your choice). Two 7-inch screens will also be offered: a 1080p LCD at 120Hz, and a 1080p OLED at 144Hz. A 50 Wh battery is included with the device, which runs on Windows 11.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer's Indiegogo page gives few additional details, such as availability or price. However, don't expect anything very affordable. Last year, the Ayaneo 2S was indeed $999.
