Building on its success in Europe, the Dacia Sandero… increases its prices

Bad news in the Dacia range. The prices of the third-generation Sandero continue to rise. From 8,690 euros in 2020, the first year in which the city car exceeded 8,000 euros on its entry ticket, it is now at 12,990 euros. If its prices passed the 10,000 euro mark in 2022, now they are very close to crossing the 13,000 euro mark. The competition is still non-existent at these prices, but note that the Fiat Tipo is getting closer, it costs 16,900 euros as a first price, with 30 centimeters more in length.

Citroën and its C3 are even closer, at 14,990 euros. At this price, the French car that has become the best-selling car in Europe in 2024 offers a 100 hp engine, while Dacia is limited to a 65 hp petrol engine, and a cabin without air conditioning. In the Essential trim, Dacia is indeed very light, even if the brand had to work hard last year to equip the city car with new essential equipment, such as automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assistance, driver monitoring, emergency call (eCall), and speeding and lane change alert.

The rest of the Dacia range is evolving

The only good news at the moment from Dacia concerns the Spring, its only electric model, which has seen its entry ticket drop to 16,990 euros. The brand has not lowered its prices strictly speaking, but has introduced a new engine, 45 hp, to complement the 65 hp. With the Sandero, customers were mainly turning to the LPG engine, especially in France, with more than 55,000 sales during the year. From now on, it will cost 14,450 euros to adopt it, in Essential finish, or 15,950 euros in Expression finish. A price identical to that of the TCe 90 engine.

In other Dacia news, there is the arrival of the Bigster. The low-cost brand has, for the first time, introduced a model that will take its price list up to 31,000 euros. The brand had never practiced such prices, while those of the Duster stopped at 28,100 euros (without options that is). The Bigster, the Duster's real big brother, does not have seven seats on board as one might have thought, but its size allows for more space, with a height of 1.71 m high and a length of 4.57 m. Despite its equivalent in length to a Jogger, the new Bigster is the first to invest in the C automobile segment.
