Dacia details its future in 100% electric

Electricity at Dacia already constitutes a significant part of its range, since the Spring starts at 16,000 euros, only 3,000 euros more than a Sandero. However, its technology is starting to show signs of age, with an engine of only 45 hp and a range of barely 200 kilometers for the entry-level model.

To remedy this, the low-cost brand is preparing new models. The first new model: a Sandero, precisely, entirely electric. This should arrive at the end of 2027, alongside thermal engines that will be released at the same time.

Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia, spoke to Automotive News about what's next last week. After 2030, "there will be more than two models that will be launched year after year", electric models, which could be different from the Spring, unless the latter is updated with the new technologies offered.

Which electric models at Dacia?

Which models will be affected? That is the big question. A plausible hypothesis, if the Spring is not included in the "new models" mentioned by Denis Le Vot, would then be that the Jogger, the Duster and the Bigster become electrified.

Dacia's 100% electric future still seems quite far away and one wonders how the brand will manage to offer a single Spring by then. But in addition to European standards that encourage lower emissions, there is the reality on the ground, and Dacia's ability to put the Sandero at the top of European sales, ahead of a certain Tesla Model Y.

The reality on the ground also highlights the LPG engine, which has greatly contributed to the success of the Sandero, particularly in France. To obtain a 100% electric version in 2027, the model will be developed on a specific chassis. This could be Renault's AmpR Small platform, used on the R5 E-Tech with a 40 kW battery and a 95 hp engine.
