After several years of cancellation, following the Covid pandemic, the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) officially confirmed the end of the event in December 2023. In place since 1997 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, it was the end of an era and an era that made so many players and enthusiasts dream.
A little over a year after this announcement, the ESA is back and announces iicon, their new event which will aim to succeed E3 with a gaming event at Las Vegas in April 2026.
The iicon is meeting us in April 2026
It's official, the spiritual successor to E3 will arrive in April 2026, and more precisely from April 27 to 30, 2026 in Las Vegas. Its name? The iicon.
ESA has just announced it through a press release from the CEO of the organization. The iicon (or Interactive Innovation Conference) will be "an essential meeting for the players who push innovation in all sectors of activity". The event already announces that many bosses and groups will be present like Amazon Games, Disney, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Microsoft, Nintendo of America, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Square Enix, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft and Warner Bros. Games.
However, iicon is not expected to offer conferences and shows like E3 or Gamescom. It is a more professional show, similar to the Game Developers Conference, mainly focused on about business and not announcements, as the CEO of ESA confirms once again: “With iicon, we are creating a space for visionaries from all sectors to come together, connect and reimagine what is possible through interactive entertainment”.
