Fallout New Vegas: The game screenwriter is back at Obsidian

Fallout New Vegas: The game screenwriter is back at Obsidian

In 2010, Obsidian Entertainment offered players Fallout New Vegas, considered by many to be the best Fallout of the entire saga. A shame for Bethesda Games Studio, which thus entrusted its baby to another studio. At the head of the project, we find John Gonzalez, lead writer of the game who left the studio just after the release of the latter to join the Guerrilla Games teams and write the script for a certain Horizon Zero Dawn.

More than 14 years after his departure for the release of Fallout New Vegas, we have just learned that John Gonzalez is back at Obsidian as screenwriter and creative director. Alas, we won't be able to count on a Fallout New Vegas 2.

Fallout New Vegas 2: it's not for right now

For the moment, we don't know what project John could be working on. Obsidian will soon shine with the release of its new RPG, Avowed (February 18) and then The Outer Worlds 2 (expected for 2025). In recent years, the studio has released very good games like Pentiment, Grounded and Pillars of Eternity.

John could therefore work on a sequel to these games or start writing a new license. In any case, now that Bethesda and Obsidian belong to Microsoft, we hope that the Fallout New Vegas 2 project, which has been requested by fans for many years, will eventually see the light of day, sooner or later.

Bethesda Games Softworks is developing The Elder Scrolls VI, so we already know that we shouldn't wait for Fallout 5 for (very) many years. Entrusting a new Fallout installment to Obsidian would be the certainty of having an excellent single-player Fallout game, while waiting for the release of the next Fallout 5. As a reminder, it's already been ten years since Fallout 4 was released. How time flies.
