Surprise at Galaxy Unpacked, the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra weren't the only ones showing off. Samsung has finished its big event at the beginning of the year to evoke a very mysterious future smartphone: the Galaxy S25 Edge.
The Galaxy S25 Slim will finally be called the Galaxy S25 Edge
A very short video shows the device and suggests that it will be very thin... like the Galaxy S25 Slim that was conspicuous by its absence at Unpacked. Instead of this model at the heart of rumors for several weeks, it is a well-known name in the Samsung universe that resurfaces. Indeed, the Edge series accompanied several flagship models of the South Korean manufacturer during the decade 2010.
The return of the Galaxy Edge is surrounded by mystery
After the Galaxy Note Edge, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and S7 Edge, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge promises to relaunch the series. The brand's teaser does not provide any information on the future model and its characteristics.
However, rumors related to the Galaxy S25 Slim mention an ultra-thin smartphone with a thickness of around 6.4 mm (compared to 7.2 mm for an S25). This model could offer a powerful photo configuration, but the triple photo sensor mentioned by the rumors would not be part of it. While the rumors were counting on a 200 Mpx module associated with a telephoto lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens of 50 Mpx each, we only see two sensors on the Samsung device.
These are still only rumors and we will have to wait a little longer before discovering this strange smartphone. The new Galaxy S25 Edge could be the big competitor to Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air/Slim. It's likely to make headlines in the coming months, with MWC 2025 in a few weeks in Barcelona.
Samsung's upcoming smartphone could, however, wait until summer to hit the market. It would then accompany the release of the new Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip.
