It’s high time for Apple to revisit the iPhone SE. The current generation launched in 2022 has aged very badly, with its design taken from the iPhone 8, its Touch ID home button and a price that’s not so cheap compared to Android smartphones with a better quality/price ratio.
An iPhone 14 with bits of the iPhone 16
This fourth generation should give the range a boost, not only in terms of performance — the device should indeed be able to accommodate Apple Intelligence — but also in terms of design. This time, Apple is said to be taking inspiration from the iPhone 14, which means a screen that occupies a larger surface area on the front with reduced borders and a notch, all with possibly FaceID (or perhaps Touch ID in the power button, like on the iPad Air?).
And as always in the few months preceding the launch of a new Apple smartphone, the accessory makers are on deck! Models are circulating under the counter, as shown by the leaker Sonny Dickson. The two models, in black and white, seem to confirm the rumors that Apple has recycled the iPhone 14!
The Mute switch, replaced by a customizable action button since the iPhone 15 Pro, is making a big comeback. On the back, the camera block is composed of a single sensor, probably a 48 MP wide angle. The leaks also speak of a 6.1-inch OLED screen (the same as for the iPhone 14), an A18 chip (that of the iPhone 16), 8 GB of RAM, as well as Apple's cellular modem.
These mockups tell us nothing about the central question of price, nor obviously about the launch date. Spring, March or April, often comes up.
