Google One muscle its “AI Premium” subscription with two important new features

The Google One AI Premium subscription, offered at €21.99 per month, already provides access to the advanced features of Gemini Advanced, Google's artificial intelligence. But to make it even more attractive, Google is now including NotebookLM Plus, a note-taking and analysis tool boosted by AI, with expanded features compared to the free version.

Google is improving its AI Premium offering with NotebookLM Plus

The Google One AI Premium, which already provides access to the advanced features of Gemini AI, now includes NotebookLM in its "Plus" version. The latter allows you to organize, analyze and summarize notes with great flexibility. It goes further by generating audio discussions inspired by the podcast format from the added documents.
Compared to the free version, NotebookLM Plus offers:

  • Up to 500 notebooks created (compared to 100 in the free version);
  • The possible addition of 300 sources per notebook;
  • 500 requests per day;
  • Up to 20 audio summaries generated daily;
  • Premium features such as sharing in “Chat-only” mode and advanced options for customizing the tone and style of notes.

With these developments, Google wants to offer a tool that can help researchers, students and professionals in their information management.

A 50% discount for students

To make its subscription more attractive, Google is offering a 50% discount to American students enrolled in university. For the next 12 months, they will be able to subscribe to Google One AI Premium for $9.99 per month instead of $19.99. Enough to encourage a new audience to test Google's advanced services, particularly to make the most of Gemini Advanced, which remains one of the main features included in the AI Premium subscription.

With these new features, Google is looking to make its offer more competitive with competing AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude AI or Mistral AI) while facilitating access to AI for students and researchers. It remains to be seen whether this approach will be enough to convince a wider audience to adopt these tools on a daily basis.
