Google is introducing new AI features that will improve the experience of Pixel phones. Gemini Live and Surround to Search are improving to make it easier to manage daily tasks.
Gemini Live, or when AI adapts to your requests
Gemini Live, the assistant integrated into Pixel phones, lets you chat and now get answers in real time from visual content on your device. You can now interact with:
- Images: Add a photo to receive information or suggestions.
- Files: Share documents to ask and analyze questions.
- Videos: Discuss concepts covered in a YouTube video.
Gemini Live is now able to help you with more varied tasks, such as organizing an event or adjusting a recipe. This feature is first available on the Pixel 9, but will be rolled out to the Pixel 6 and newer models in the coming months.
Gemini Deep Research, for in-depth research
Gemini Deep Research is designed for Gemini Advanced subscribers. This new tool organizes and summarizes information from hundreds of websites, providing clear and documented reports. Users can then explore the original sources to go further.
You can also automate actions via several applications such as Gmail or Google Maps. For example, it is possible to find meal ideas, save them on Google Keep or share nearby activities via Google Messages. A feature that is reminiscent of the Gemini capabilities on the new Galaxy S25.
Surround to search is also improving
Finally, the Surround to search feature now integrates “AI Overview” (enriched AI previews) directly into your searches. By circling or tapping on an item, you get an overview of essential information, accompanied by links to dig deeper.
The tool goes further by recognizing practical information like phone numbers, email addresses or URLs, facilitating immediate actions like making a call or opening a website.
Google specifies that "some features may roll out gradually and availability may vary by region and device model."
