GTA 5 exceeds 210 million sales, Red Dead Redemption II 70 million

Last night, Take Two Interactive held its traditional call with investors to review their last quarter (Q3 2024) which ended December 31, 2024. The opportunity for the publisher to reveal the new figures for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II, and to note that from year to year, it continues to skyrocket!

More than 210 million GTA 5

It's official, Grand Theft Auto V has sold an additional 5 million units in the last quarter, bringing the total to 210 million games sold since the game's release on September 17, 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360. Since then, the game has been ported to on PS4 and Xbox One (in November 2014), on PC (in April 2015), then on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S (in March 2022).

Over the whole of 2024, Rockstar's title managed to sell 15 million units. A staggering figure, 11 years after the game's release, when you think that some titles, which were very successful when they were released that same year, have not reached this score.

Concerning the Grand Theft Auto license, it now peaks at 440 million games sold since the release of the first GTA in October 1997. With the arrival of GTA6 (still scheduled for this fall), the numbers should clearly go crazy.

Red Dead Redemption II passes 70 million

For its part, Red Dead Redemption II does not have to blush since it sold 3 million more copies in the last quarter. Over the whole of 2024, it achieved a very nice score with 9 million games sold. In total, Red Dead 2 peaked at 70 million games sold since its release in October 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One, then on PC in November 2019.

As for the Red Dead license, it peaked at 95 million games sold since the release of its first opus, Red Dead Revolver, in 2004. More than ever, the license is aiming for 100 million, which it could reach this year. Especially if the rumors of the arrival of Red Dead Redemption II on Switch 2 turn out to be true.

Here again, these are truly remarkable figures for such a game, much less mainstream than GTA.
