Hogwarts Legacy: Official mods arrive on PC this week

Hogwarts Legacy: Official mods arrive on PC this week

Almost two years after its release, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy continues to be supported by its developers. Today we learned of the arrival of a surprise update that will add official mod support starting January 30 on the PC versions of the game. From that date on, players will be able to install a selection of mods without any risk on their game.

Flying on Shrek or a vacuum cleaner will soon be possible in Hogwarts Legacy

The modding community is a community extremely important and solid that can allow games to become timeless. If GTA V and especially GTA Online continue to be at the top, 12 years after their release, it is partly thanks to modders and GTA RP. Other games were born out of modding, like Counter Strike which was, at the base, only a mode of Half-Life.

For most popular games released on PC, mods represent an extremely important part. The Witcher, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout or even CyberPunk, all have in common a community very invested, who publish some pretty crazy content, for free.

Hogwarts Legacy is no exception to the rule and has had the right to some very good mods since its release. Today, Warner Bros. Games announced that official support would be set up on January 30 on PC. This means that the game will allow you to download and install a selection of official mods directly from the game menu thanks to the Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy Creation Kit, available for free on the Epic Games Store.

Warner Bros. Games has opted for CurseForge, one of the largest mod and add-on sites for video games. It is the latter that will host and moderate the mods for Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy. The creation kit will support modding new quests, dungeons as well as character enhancements such as skins and other cosmetics. Mods can then be submitted through the CurseForge platform to be published in the game.

Unfortunately, for the moment, there are no plans for console versions. Like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, or even Fallout 4 and Skyrim, it is totally possible to adapt and bring mods to consoles, but it is a more delicate process than on PC. Perhaps this remains in the plans of Warner Bros. Games for the coming months, but to date, nothing has been confirmed.

We remind you that the news of Hogwarts Legacy should be animated this year. According to the latest rumors, revealed by Insider-Gaming last October, a major DLC for Hogwarts Legacy is planned for PC and consoles this year via a Definitive Edition adding around fifteen hours of additional content.

As for a sequel, Warner Bros. Games confirmed last November that production had just started and that Hogwarts Legacy 2 was now a top priority. The game is expected to arrive in 2026 or even 2027 and should be closely linked to the new series on HBO which is expected to be released in 2026.
