In lack of inspiration, Bluesky and X / Twitter copy Tiktok's vertical videos

In lack of inspiration, Bluesky and X / Twitter copy Tiktok's vertical videos

After Instagram and its video editing app Edits, designed to compete with TikTok's CapCut app, it's Bluesky's turn to announce a new feature to try to attract TikTok users. While the future of ByteDance's network remains uncertain in the United States, Bluesky has just launched a personalized feed entirely dedicated to vertical videos. The social network is not the only one to ride the wave of TikTok's unstable situation since X / Twitter has just followed suit.

Bluesky allows you to "swipe" videos like on TikTok

On Bluesky's mobile app, you can now find, in the Explore tab, a feed dedicated to trending videos. A new feed that is reminiscent of what exists elsewhere, notably on TikTok, since the videos presented there, displayed in full screen in vertical format, can be "swiped".

A small peculiarity however, this vertical video feed will not be unique to Bluesky. The social network has indeed indicated that several Bluesky clients are working on supporting the display of this video feed.

X / Twitter also in the race for vertical videos

A few hours after Bluesky's announcement, X/Twitter decided to follow suit, also hoping to take advantage of TikTok's unstable position in the United States. The social network bought by Elon Musk has thus revealed, in a message published on its official account, the deployment of a new tab dedicated to vertical videos.

This "new immersive Home for videos" is however only deployed, for the moment, to users residing in the United States. As on Bluesky, vertical videos on X / Twitter are displayed in full screen and can be "swiped" in the same way as on TikTok (and Instagram Reels).
