Every year it's the same song. Since digital events took over from physical ones, Xbox has become a master in the art of making announcements with great fanfare. Every year, during the E3/Summer Game Fest period, it's the studio that wins the prize for the best presentation, with the most impactful announcements. While the opening dates of the SGF have been confirmed for a while, Xbox has just made its showcase official.
But unlike other years, there is a mystery ingredient. The first part, which should last around 1 hour, will focus on upcoming releases on Xbox consoles and PC. The Xbox Game Pass will have its moment of glory, while independent titles will also be highlighted. The second part, on the other hand, is much more enigmatic. At the end of its first presentation, Xbox will give way to a Direct that does not yet have a name, or rather whose name has been deliberately hidden.
We are keeping an eye on things
Only one image tells us what to expect. Unfortunately, no reverse image search will reveal its meaning. So the guessing game can begin. In its press release, Microsoft explains that it will be about offering viewers “a special immersion in the next installment of a beloved franchise“. Given the company's news, we can think of a franchise from the latest studio acquired, Activision Blizzard.
Gamers are not unaware that every year a Call of Duty game is developed. For the moment, we have only been treated to no clue that the opus that will follow Modern Warfare 3 will be released in 2023. The graphics and colors of the logo and the symbols, we would lean more towards a detailed presentation of the next project of the license, the first under the supervision of Microsoft and since the reorganization of the staff.
In a second time, we can also think of a Bethesda game, although the latter were the mascots of the two previous years. We remember the Starfield Direct in 2023, as well as the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase in 2022. In any case, the appointment is made. Xbox will reveal more to us on June 9 at 7 p.m. French time.
