The wait is coming to an end for Samsung smartphone users. After a beta period launched in December 2024, One UI 7, the long-awaited new Android overlay, is about to hit the Korean giant's devices. Derived from Android 15, this major update, already mentioned by Samsung when it announced the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, promises to revolutionize the user experience.
Present on Galaxy devices since 2018, One UI has gradually established itself as a major asset, contributing to the success of the brand's devices. With this seventh iteration, Samsung is bringing a modernized interface, reinforced by new icons and features like the "Now Bar". This toolbar aims to transform the experience offered by the lock screen by displaying important elements, so that the user does not have to unlock the device. For iPhone fans, the Now Bar can be seen as a mix between “Live Activities” and Dynamic Island.
On the Samsung Galaxy S25, what next?
The Galaxy S25 trio of smartphones (S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra) will ship with One UI 7 pre-installed. Other compatible models will receive the update gradually, in line with Samsung’s software update policy. Based on this policy (Samsung has not yet published an official list), it is already possible to establish a list of devices that should benefit from One UI 7:
- Galaxy S:
- Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra (pre-installed update)
- Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE
- Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE

Note that it is not yet known whether all the new features of Galaxy AI will be available on older models. It is possible that some functions will remain exclusive to the Galaxy S25, or will not arrive for a few months.
When will One UI 7 be deployed on my smartphone?
In the last few hours, many tech sites have reported that One UI 7 will arrive "before the end of the first quarter of 2025" and even that One UI 7 will be available on all eligible Samsung smartphones before March 31. According to our findings, this information is based on a Samsung Korea press release roughly translated into English or French and we cannot be so affirmative.
In our opinion, the speech given by the brand in its native language is the same as that given by Samsung France in December: "The official deployment of One UI 7 will begin on the next Galaxy S series devices from the first quarter of 2025 and will bring new AI features, some of which are directly embedded on the device. In line with Samsung's commitment to gradually expand its operating system update policy, One UI 7 will then be rolled out to other Galaxy devices in the following months."

In this message, we could see a reference to the Galaxy S25 that the firm unveiled on January 22 and which will be available from February 7. One UI 7 will be directly offered in a stable version on this series, but no date has been given for older models. As it stands, and considering the progress of the beta program, we can hope for a deployment of One UI 7 on eligible Galaxy S devices during the month of February... or before March 31, 2025. For other models, Samsung France clearly announces its colors by specifying that One UI 7 will be deployed "in the following months". Here again, we can hope for a continuation from Samsung, which has made progress in this area.
