In any case, players who discovered Onimusha with the remaster of the first episode and fans of the series should find something to their liking. Capcom still promises new features, without saying more for the moment. Let us recall that the model of the main character, Jubei Yagyū, is based about the late Yusaku Matsuda, a Japanese actor who became famous in the 80s.
We can expect that a remaster of Onimusha 3: Demon Siege, in which a certain Jean Reno appears, is coming to PC and consoles. Note that Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is the best-selling game in the license with 2.1 million copies sold. Of course, Capcom will not reach such heights with this remaster. The game takes place in Kyoto at the beginning of the Edo period. It will put us in control of a samurai equipped with the Oni Glove capable of absorbing the souls of all kinds of monstrosity. Capcom assures that the counter will still be as essential in the brutal sword fights of this new adventure. You will have to wait a little to discover them, given that that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be released on PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox in 2026.
A launch that will therefore take place 20 years after the release of the last new opus, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, the fourth main episode of the license released in 2006. Note that you can also dive into the story of Onimusha thanks to the anime adaptation available on Netflix.
