PlayStation confirms the release of 2 big games this year

If you thought 2023 was a very busy year for video games, hold on tight for 2024. The schedule ultimately doesn't look any lighter, despite a few postponements expected for some AAA titles (hello Wolverine). Despite the recent incidents that have affected Sony's Insomniac Games studio, the firm has revealed its menu for the next twelve months, with a particular emphasis on its blockbusters.

We learn in a blog post that the 2024 release window has been confirmed for two big, highly anticipated games. The first is the remake of Silent Hill 2. It will be released as a console exclusive on PS5, but will also arrive on PC. The horror game caused a sensation when it was revealed over a year ago. Since then, the title has been extremely discreet, so much so that its release in 2024 was questioned by fans.

We can already expect a colossal work on the game's graphics. The goal being to bring Silent Hill 2 back into the spirit of the times, everything will be modernized to attract new players, but also satisfy the oldest ones. Sony makes a point of honor to rework the audio as well, vital for a title of this kind.

The second game with a confirmed release window is METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER. Unveiled during the Summer Game Fest festivities, the game only showed a few seconds of an intriguing teaser. Then it recently gave a glimpse of its in-engine universe. No gameplay footage has been shared since, which has certainly got fans of the saga talking. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

What about the others?

On this same post, there are obviously many games that we were already expecting in 2024 for sure. We are thinking in particular of Rise of the Ronin, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth or even The Last of US Part II which are all three arriving during the first quarter of the year. On the page, however, there are a few absentees, including one in particular.

No mention is made of Death Stranding 2, one of the most anticipated titles for Hideo Kojima fans. The game has shown images a while ago, so we could have expected a slight delay in its release. Players can still hope that new footage will be shared soon.
