After Xbox and its butt-shaped controllers (to accompany the release of Deadpool & Wolverine), it's PlayStation's turn to focus on hardware. The company, which is behind the famous PS5, has just unveiled an accessory that is as collectible as it is cute: a DualSense in the colors of Astro Bot, its favorite mascot since the console's launch.
While we discovered the adorable little robot in a first game in 2018, it has since become a reference, serving both as a hook for players and as a technological showcase for the manufacturer. It is therefore entirely It's only natural that he's finding a controller with his image today.
In terms of design, the DualSense obviously takes up all the usual codes, such as the two-tone color, or even its functionalities. The handles are adorned with a metallic blue while the rest – including the joysticks – is adorned with white. It could be a standard controller if only Sony hadn't added a pair of robotic eyes to the touchpad, making the accessory much more lively. It's not yet known whether the design will be interactive. The firm adds touches of blue to the buttons and the frame of the touchpad tactile.
Supporting the release of a future hit
As you will have understood, this controller is not released without conditions. The device will indeed accompany the release of the game Astro Bot, expected for September 6. This is also the date on which the DualSense will go on sale. In the meantime, pre-orders for the controller will open on August 9, so you will soon be able to reserve your copy before it sells out like hotcakes.
The bad news is that the accessory will be sold in limited quantities. Price: €79.99, it is likely to disappear from the shelves quite quickly. For the moment, Sony has not confirmed a pack containing the game and the controller, so you will have to buy them separately.
Astro Bot is the next family adventure game from PlayStation studios. Overall, we can expect a game as fun and colorful as Astro’s Playroom, but with more levels, new skills and lots of environments to discover. We were able to play an exclusive preview a few weeks ago, and our first opinion on the title was already extremely positive. There will be something for all levels in Astro Bot, from the simple walk of health to the most difficult challenges, with very good replayability. See you at the start of the school year on PS5 for our full review!
