Pokémon TCG Pocket: What time do exchanges and extension come out?

Pokémon TCG Pocket: What time do exchanges and extension come out?

The Pocket version of the Pokémon collectible card game is about to unleash its full potential. Since its launch on October 30, the application has only offered a small portion of its content. Players have had to make do with a single expansion and a thematic mini-series to occupy the last three months of play. Some have already completed their collections, others have grown tired of battling, but a majority of trainers are waiting for the trades to get the few missing cards. No matter your gaming habits on Pokémon TCG Pocket: the next update promises to revitalize your daily experience.

Last week, the Pokémon Company and mobile studio DeNA unveiled the new features coming to the application. Trading between players will finally be accessible from Wednesday, January 29. This feature will however be limited to the help of a new resource: trade hourglasses. Thursday, January 30th will mark the launch of the second major expansion, titled Space-Time Clash, featuring Generation 4 Pokémon. Unlike the Genetic Powers series, only two booster packs—ones featuring Dialga and Palkia—will be available in the main menu. Should we expect an additional mini-series in honor of Giratina? While we wait to learn more, here is the launch schedule for the two updates expected this week.

A date for early risers

If you are used to playing Pokémon TCG Pocket early in the morning, whether over a bowl of cereal or on the subway, you will be able to enjoy the new features as soon as you get up... As long as you live in in metropolitan France. The developers have not announced a deployment time for the Space-Time Shock expansion and the exchanges, but these should follow the pattern applied since the beginning of the application. Until proven otherwise, in-game events and additional cards have always been launched at the same time. Here is the launch schedule for the two upcoming updates:

  • Metropolitan France: 7am
  • Reunion: 10am
  • Martinique and Guadeloupe: 2am
  • Mayotte: 9am
  • New Caledonia: 5pm

The exchanges are already available. If the feature does not appear in your application, go to the App Store or Play Store to launch the update manually. You will then need to restart the application to proceed with a second download directly from it. Then, the exchanges will be accessible from the community tab. Our full tutorial on this new tool can be found right here:

The Pokémon TCG Pocket page of the AppStore also confirms that the Space-Time Clash cards will be available on January 30 at 7 a.m.. As with the release of the game and the thematic series The Fabulous Island, guides to the best cards and decks will be available directly on Journal du Geek.
