Apple is heating up the Powerbeats Pro 2. These very sporty-looking headphones should be launched soon, Mark Gurman believes in his newsletter. The Bloomberg snoop affirms that a presentation and hands-on sessions by the press would take place "this week". Marketing would begin in mid-February.
Headphones that listen to the heartbeat
The new headphones would be entitled to a new, slimmer and more slender design, while retaining the ear hook. The Powerbeats Pro 2, which were leaked in iOS 18 code, are no surprise at all: Beats announced that they will be available in 2025, showing them in baseball player Shohei Ohtani’s ears.
The product should offer active noise cancellation (this was not the case with the first generation), support for spatial audio and adaptive audio that combines transparent mode and ANC. The other big new feature of these headphones would be the integration of a heart rate sensor. It would thus be possible to retrieve this information during workouts, as with an Apple Watch.
Such a sensor could also find a place in future AirPods Pro, which would gain a new health-related function (after hearing health). Apple is indeed planning to strengthen this aspect for its headphones, so why not start with the Powerbeats Pro.
