Samsung already offers one UI 7 on this new entry -level smartphone

While users of high-end Samsung smartphones are still waiting for their update to One UI 7, the brand surprised everyone by offering this version directly on an affordable model. The Galaxy F06 5G, an entry-level smartphone sold for around $115, thus becomes one of the first to benefit from the manufacturer's latest software interface. A choice that raises questions about Samsung's priorities in terms of software updates.

An unexpected launch that comes ahead of premium models

Samsung has decided to launch its Galaxy F06 5G with One UI 7 directly pre-installed, while the majority of the brand's devices are still waiting for their update. This model, sold for around $115, thus passes the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or even the Galaxy S24 series, which are still in the beta phase.

The Galaxy F06, marketed in India, is an entry-level smartphone equipped with a 6.74-inch HD+ screen, a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor and a 50 Mpx camera module. Available in a 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage version, it is positioned as an accessible model, but which is ahead of high-end smartphones in terms of software updates.

A disconcerting software strategy

This choice by Samsung raises questions. While the South Korean firm traditionally deploys its new versions of Android on its flagships before its lower ranges, the absence of a clear timetable for One UI 7 leaves doubts about the brand's priorities.

Currently, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has a stable version of One UI 7, as do the S25 and S25+. Galaxy S24 users, meanwhile, are still waiting for the fourth beta, while owners of older premium devices have no information on their access to this update. It is likely that the version of One UI 7 on the Galaxy F06 will be a stripped-down variant, called One UI Core, which removes some advanced features like Good Lock or Samsung Knox.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s update strategy remains unclear, while other manufacturers have already rolled out Android 15 to their smartphones, including in the mid-range segment.
