Have high-end smartphones hit a glass ceiling? We can think so when we see the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25 Plus and S25. They feature (very) minimal hardware updates, preferring to focus on software.
The meager hardware changes of the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus
Take the Galaxy S24 and S24+, remove their 0.4mm thickness, add large circles around the camera modules (removable for customization), new colors, and you have the Galaxy S25 and S25+. Inside, we also find a new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, as well as 12GB of RAM. The rest of the technical specifications do not change. Thus, we still find a triple camera module of 50 Mpx (wide-angle), 10 Mpx (3x telephoto lens) and 12 Mpx (ultra-wide-angle) on both models.
Like the S24, the Galaxy S25 has a 6.2-inch screen, 128 GB of base RAM, a 4000 mAh battery, a charging speed of 25W wired and 15W wireless. For its part, the Galaxy S25 Plus also plays the status quo with its predecessor on many points. So, we find a 6.7-inch screen, 256 GB of minimum storage, a 4900 mAh battery, a charging speed of 45W wired and 15W wireless.
One UI 7.0, Samsung's new star
This year, the most important new features are to be found in alongside One UI 7.0, which is officially launched alongside these Galaxy S25s. The new “Now Bar” that appears at the bottom of the lock screen and groups together various useful information. A feature that is reminiscent of Apple’s “Dynamic Island”. Gemini, Google’s multimodal AI, is now much more deeply integrated into Samsung applications, giving it new capabilities. What are the prices of the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25+?
The recommended price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 is €899 for 128 GB and that of the Galaxy S25+ is €1169 for 256 GB. Until February 6, Samsung is offering to double the storage for the same price on its three Galaxy S25 models.
