RimWorld
Rimworld, the brainchild of indie developer Tynan Sylvester, brilliantly revisits the foundations laid by the legendary Dwarf Fortress. It asks the player to manage a group of space castaways to establish a thriving colony — a simple concept, but one that hides countless layers of complexity. The map, but also the skills and personality of each character are randomly generated, and it is absolutely necessary to take all these parameters into account to collect resources and build your base, manage everyone's ambitions, struggle with the vagaries of the weather, survive internal frictions and with opposing factions... It is difficult to pay tribute to Rimworld in a few lines, as it is an immensely rich, deep and diverse game that has no equal in generating incredible situations and stories, each more entertaining than the last. Not to be missed!
Rimworld is available on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
Planet Zoo
A spiritual heir to the famous Zoo Tycoon, Planet Zoo invites players to create, develop and manage their own zoo. There are plenty of options: to make your institution prosper, you will have to develop and decorate the park and enclosures, select animals from dozens of species and ensure their well-being, manage the needs of your visitors and employees... There is no shortage of objectives, and the result is very entertaining — and even downright meditative at times. A must have for animal lovers who enjoy these kinds of games.
Planet Zoo is available on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
Planet Coaster
Built exactly on the same model as Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster makes no secret of its intentions: it seeks to seduce fans of the famous Roller Coaster Tycoon from 1999. Like the latter, it offers to imagine and manage all the aspects of your own theme park. The most interesting part is undoubtedly the creation of the attractions. The editor is sometimes a little capricious, but it is flexible enough to allow you to realize all your craziest ideas, from small peaceful and magical rides to thrilling roller coasters that will put the audience's stomach to the test. Special mention to the function that allows you to sit in a first-person view attraction – downright enjoyable!
Planet Coasteris available on Steam, Xboxand PlayStation.
Prison Architect
As its name suggests, Prison Architect lets players manage their own penitentiary institution. Despite its simplistic appearance, it is a surprisingly complete and strategically deep game where every detail is important, from the layout of the buildings to the personalities of the inmates and the policy of the institution. It is easy to get sucked into it for hours, and fans of the genre will really get their money's worth. The cherry on the cake is an alternative mode that allows you to take control of a prisoner to test the security of his prison by trying to escape! A great idea that reinforces the already enormous lifespan of this unique game.
Prison Architect is available on Steam, Xbox , and PlayStation.
Two Point Hospital
Two Point Hospital puts you in the shoes of the manager of a healthcare institution that must be set up and managed while constantly keeping an eye on the finances. From staff training to patient care, the game gives you a relatively large amount of control over the entire process, but also remains very intuitive and easy to access. One of its strong points is its biting humor that relies heavily on the absurd, and is completely at odds with the rarely cheerful atmosphere of real-world hospitals.
Two Point Hospital is available on Steam.
Oxygen Not Included
Oxygen Not Included is a survival management game created by Klei Entertainment, the studio behind the excellent Don’t Starve. It involves taking care of a group of castaways on an asteroid who are trying to survive as best they can with very limited resources that will have to be managed carefully, starting with — you guessed it — oxygen. At the same time, you have to constantly juggle the whims of the environment and the specificities of each colonist. It’s a remarkably well-designed game, which benefits from the studio’s immediately recognizable artistic touch and which exudes attention to detail at every level. A real treat for those who enjoy solving dynamic problems.
Prison Architectis available on Steam.
Frostpunk
Frostpunk offers to take charge of a group of poor souls trapped in the middle of a merciless post-apocalyptic blizzard to rebuild a semblance of civilization. With its very convincing dystopian universe, its fabulous artistic direction inspired by the steampunk genre and its deeply strategic, complex gameplay full of ethical dilemmas that will put your moral sense to the test, it quickly established itself as an absolute reference in the survival management genre. A real must-have for fans of mature and visceral universes, especially since it is regularly available on sale on Steam for next to nothing.
Frostpunkis available on Steam, Xbox / GamePass and PlayStation / PlayStation Plus Extra.
Big Ambitions
If you've always dreamed of awakening the business genius within you, Big Ambitions is the perfect title. It puts you in the shoes of a young entrepreneur who begins his career at the checkout of a supermarket while waiting to be able to launch his first company, which he will absolutely have to make profitable to build a huge commercial empire. Market analysis, inventory and staff management, layout of the different stores... even if the game is still in early access, it is already formidably complete and continues to be updated very regularly. In addition, its completely unique hybrid formula, at the intersection of role-playing and strategy, makes the experience particularly enjoyable.
Big Ambitions is available on Steam.
