The Galaxy S25 receives their first update

Made official on January 22, the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus have been on the market since February 7. Less than a week after their release, Samsung is rolling out a first software update. It includes a security patch and provides some improvements.

A security patch with fixes

Named AYB3, this firmware is currently being rolled out in South Korea. It inoculates smartphones with the February 2025 security patch, which therefore replaces the December 2024 patch present at launch. The brand lists around forty vulnerabilities that are now immune.

Samsung is also fixing some bugs and improving the user experience. As we pointed out in our Galaxy S25 and S25+ preview, the company hasn’t made any significant hardware changes. The main selling point is One UI 7.0, which was launched by this series. It’s therefore consistent that Samsung is rushing to polish its software partition.

According to the official notes, the AYB3 firmware brings optimizations to charging, calls, and the camera. In particular, it would fix issues with night photos reported by many users.

A seamless update

This update will of course affect all S25s worldwide. It will be rolled out widely in the coming days. You can check its availability in Settings > Software update.

This will also be an opportunity to experience the transparent update system. Indeed, the S25 installs them automatically in the background, without the procedure hindering the use of the smartphone. A restart is still necessary to finalize the update, but unlike previous models, you no longer have to go through the installation phase during which the smartphone is inoperable: the S25 must remain functional during the entire process.

This is just the first update in a long series; In the coming weeks, Samsung will definitely be working on improving its S25 and One UI 7. In fact, this series is no longer the only one to offer this interface based on Android 15: the Galaxy F06 5G has just benefited from it.
