The race for thinness, which smartphone manufacturers had somewhat lost sight of in recent years, could well be relaunched in 2025. Of course, we're waiting for the iPhone 17 Air at Apple, but it's Samsung that should strike first with the Galaxy S25 Slim! 3D renderings of the device give some additional details about it.
It's thin, it can be used endlessly
These leaks, signed by the always reliable OnLeaks, present a model that doesn't clash with the rest of the range. We find in fact a design in the direct line of the other Galaxy S25, itself taken from the Galaxy S24. We find in particular the completely flat screen, just like the edges, as well as round and well-separated photo sensors.
The real originality of this Galaxy S25 Slim is of course its thickness: at 6.4 mm, it would be one of the thinnest smartphones ever designed by Samsung (the Galaxy A8 however holds the record with only 4.9 mm!). Taking into account the photo sensors, the thickness is 8.3 mm. The iPhone 17 Air should go under 6 mm - analyst Ming-Chi Kuo even talks about 5.5 mm!
But where Apple's future smartphone would have to make compromises to achieve this thickness, particularly at the camera level, the Galaxy S25 Slim would not sacrifice much on the altar of thinness. The camera block is impressive, because according to rumors, it would have a 200 mpx wide angle, a 50 mpx ultra wide angle and a 50 mpx telephoto lens (3.5x optical zoom).
Under the hood, the device's engine would be a Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm's new high-end chip for mobiles. 12GB of RAM will accompany it. It would run on One UI 7 (Android 15).
Now it remains to be seen when we will be able to lose this very thin smartphone in our pocket. A presentation during the Unpacked event on January 22 is not to be excluded, but marketing could wait until May.
