With its Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung is refining a formula that is already well-established. While the design is evolving discreetly and the technical specifications remain close to those of the S24 Ultra, the South Korean manufacturer is highlighting its new software features, driven by One UI 7.0.
A design and features that are changing little
The Galaxy S25 Ultra displays dimensions close to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with some notable adjustments. The corners are more rounded and the edges remain angular. The camera modules are surrounded by thicker rings, like the Galaxy S25 and S25+, thus bringing the Ultra model a little closer to its little brothers. The three models thus share a more obvious "family resemblance" than on the previous generation.
The screen goes to a diagonal of 6.9 inches against 6.8 inches previously, while offering a reduced thickness of 0.4 mm. It benefits from IP68 certification to resist water and dust, as well as new Corning Gorilla Glass Armor 2 protection.
On the photography side, the S25 Ultra stands out with a 50 Mpx ultra-wide-angle sensor, compared to 12 Mpx previously. A change that promises more detailed and brighter shots. The other three sensors remain unchanged, but video recording benefits from 10-bit LOG and HDR formats, with increased zoom fluidity thanks to artificial intelligence.
Under the hood, we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, accompanied by 12 GB of RAM across the range. The 5000 mAh battery and 45 W fast charging are unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Software as the spearhead of the new Samsung
The most significant development of this new generation is on the software side. The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with One UI 7.0, a major update to Samsung’s user interface. This version brings significant improvements in features, animations, and design, including a new feature on the lock screen: the “Now Bar.” Located on the lower part of the screen, this set of dynamic bubbles groups together different information in real time, offering simplified access to key data.
The deep integration of the Google Gemini assistant should also offer more possibilities to users thanks to more advanced multimodal features. Thus, a simple request to the AI will allow it to search for the information itself and activate the applications necessary to respond to your request.
Samsung also continues to ensure a long lifespan for its devices by promising seven years of software updates. To learn more about the new One UI 7 interface and all its new features, we refer you to our article dedicated to Samsung's new interface.
A price that does not change for the Galaxy S25 Ultra
Inflation has not affected the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra this year, whose price starts at €1,469 in its basic version with 256 GB of storage. It will be available in the four colors you can see above. Until February 6, Samsung is doubling the storage of its S25s for the same price, which is always a good thing if you want to acquire the new high-end smartphone from the Korean brand.
More than ever, Samsung seems to have reached a glass ceiling in terms of hardware and is focusing more than ever on software features boosted by artificial intelligence to stand out from its competitors.
