The iPad 11 would recycle the chip for iPhone 15 pro and iPad Mini 7

The iPad 11, expected in the spring, could benefit from the A17 Pro processor, a model designed with the 3nm N3B engraving technology. This chip, initially introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, would mark a major evolution for Apple's affordable tablets, offering them better performance and compatibility with the Apple Intelligence platform.

An A17 Pro chip for the iPad 11?

For its next entry-level tablet, Apple would choose to integrate the A17 Pro processor, already used in the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPad mini 7. A well-established strategy that aims to improve the performance of entry-level products while maximizing the use of the first generation of 3nm engraving in order to achieve economies of scale. Enough to make the iPad 11 much faster than the 2022 iPad 10 equipped with the A14 chip.

In addition to the processor, the iPad 11 could see its memory double, going from 4 to 8 GB. A gain is necessary to support the advanced features of Apple Intelligence, which uses artificial intelligence to optimize interactions and performance between applications, as Mark Gurman recalls:

A launch expected in spring 2025

According to Gurman, the iPad 11 should be presented in spring 2025, accompanied by other products such as a new iPad Air and an iPhone SE 4. A schedule that reflects Apple's usual pace for its hardware updates.

In addition, the use of a specific version of the A17 Pro processor, with a 5-core GPU like on the iPad mini 7, suggests an effort optimization to balance cost and performance. By sticking with this architecture, Apple appears to be extending the life of its 3nm process technology while differentiating its product lines.
