Last night, Sony finally lifted the veil on the famous PlayStation 5 Pro. After long months (or even years) of incessant rumors, the new boosted console finally revealed its capabilities. When it hits the market on November 7, the manufacturer's latest will offer almost twice as much power as the previous model. Thanks to the combination of three major new features - namely a more powerful graphics card, improved ray-tracing and resolution upscaling by artificial intelligence - The PS5 Pro will be able to display 4K visuals while maintaining a frame rate of 60 FPS. Major titles on the platform, such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Hogwarts Legacy and The Last of Us Part II Remastered will benefit from the power boost from the console's launch.
However, this promise to eliminate the choice between fidelity and performance graphics modes was not enough to satisfy players faced with the console's exorbitant price. The PlayStation 5 Pro will cost €799 despite the absence of a disc player and a vertical support. In total, gamers will have to pay almost 950 euros for the complete pack. If you were considering buying your first PS5 and the price of this new model makes you dizzy: don't panic. There is a much more profitable and reasonable alternative, sold directly by Sony.
The best value for money
As it stands, the current PlayStation 5 remains a very powerful console with surprising performance. At its launch, the PS5 Pro will offer nothing more than a higher frame rate in 4K, a feature which is a gadget for most players. However, the launch of this expensive machine comes with a major advantage for consumers: the original PS5 is offered at a more advantageous price.
Via its PlayStation Direct sales platform, Sony offers refurbished consoles for just €449.99. Thanks to the manufacturer's control, these machines are refurbished and leave the workshops with a manufacturer's warranty renewed for one year. This is therefore the best offer to take advantage of a PlayStation 5 console below market prices. As a reminder, the console is now billed at 549.99 euros when new. However, patience may be rewarded on Black Friday this year. With the arrival of the Pro model, some resellers may well try to sell off their stocks of the classic model. To be continued in November.
