In 2025, WhatsApp is not only planning to become polyglot. The instant messaging app also wants to brighten up both the content and the form of your conversations. How? By introducing chat themes. Promised for a long time, they are now offered on a large scale in the stable version of the app. These wallpapers and chat colors promise to make your "conversations even more unique"!
The customization of conversations concerns the wallpaper as well as the chat bubbles. You can opt for a predefined theme or create your own by mixing different colors and backgrounds.
In addition, you have two choices: apply a theme to all of your chats, or discriminate some of them to give them a specific design. In addition, your fantasy has no impact on your relationships: only you see the theme of your discussions.
For the discussion themes, the application offers several predefined skins. But as reported above, nothing prevents you from changing, separately, the wallpaper and the color of the bubbles.
As for wallpapers, WhatsApp offers about thirty. If you still can't find what you're looking for, that's okay. You can import images from your gallery.
How to apply a theme to a discussion?
To set a common theme for all your discussions, go to Settings > Discussions > Default discussion theme in WhatsApp. To customize a discussion, the procedure differs slightly depending on your operating system. On iOS, tap on the name of the discussion at the top of the screen. On Android, access “Chat Topic” via the three-dot menu.
