Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have an advantage over other users of Microsoft's service. They have access to cloud gaming, a technology that is rarely, if ever, used by console manufacturers today. The company has managed to make the most of the game and continues to improve its service over the years. The latest update promises to bring a feature that is particularly awaited by gamers, especially on PC.
Indeed, members of the Xbox Insiders program can already test keyboard/mouse integration. This controller has just been added to that of the gamepad and touch controls on mobile devices. It is currently only a preview, which means that not all players will be able to enjoy it. We will have to wait until the test period is over and a general update is available to all Ultimate subscribers.
The new feature is currently limited to Edge and Chrome browsers, as well as the Xbox application for cloud gaming. While waiting for its full and official release, Insiders can play with keyboard and mouse on a selection of games. With hundreds of games in the Xbox Cloud Gaming catalog, only around fifteen will receive this privilege. Here is the exhaustive list of titles compatible with this controller:
- Age of Empires 2
- ARK Survival Evolved
- Atomic Heart
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Doom 64
- Fortnite(web version only)
- Gears Tactics
- Grounded
- Halo Infinite
- High on Life
- Pentiment
- Sea of Thieves
- Sniper Elite 5
- Zombie Army 4 Dead War
More games coming soon?
As for Atomic Heart, Microsoft has already identified an anomaly: “It is complicated to switch between the gamepad and the keyboard/mouse when streaming a game.” The whole point of the beta is to prevent and correct this kind of problem, so the company is counting on its players to report any issues related to the keyboard/mouse. The release note reports all the specifics related to the different platforms and scenarios to optimize your user experience, so we advise you to consult it.
No one knows if more games will be supported in the real update. This sample is representative of many types of games, but it is far from covering all the titles that players would like to experience with a keyboard and mouse. We think of: all point and click games, but also strategy games and shooters.
