At a time when content creation is experiencing a meteoric rise in popularity, more and more enthusiasts are looking to share their passions. In this constantly evolving digital age, streaming is the perfect tool to bring these online shares to life. However, live streaming is surrounded by technically intimidating prejudices.
Don't despair, we can confirm that it is entirely possible to stream for free and effortlessly. On Xbox Series, there are live streaming options built into your console's system, you just need to know how to use them. So follow our step-by-step guide to start your stream.
How to stream on Twitch via your Xbox Series X or S?
First, you should know that there are two applications for streaming your game on Xbox consoles: Twitch and YouTube. Before starting this tutorial, you will need to make sure you have an account on the platform you want to use. You will then need to link it via the quick settings when you press the Xbox button. In the “Capture and Share“ tab, choose “Live Stream“, then the service that you prefer. The steps will be displayed to link your accounts.
Starting a stream is done in exactly the same way. Once your different platforms are connected to each other, simply go to these same settings to start the broadcast by pressing “Go Live” now. It will only start when you open a video game so that you only capture your game and not your console interface. Before this last step, you can of course adjust the stream settings such as the screen resolution, but also the broadcast title and the volume balance.
Also note that to broadcast your gaming environment in addition to your game, you will need a camera, compatible with the console obviously since it will be connected live and not to an external computer. On Xbox, the setting of your stream will not be as professional as that of your favorite influencers. You will still have access to essential information, such as the number of viewers, the duration of the stream or whether your microphone is open. So you don't technically need a second interface to manage your stream in a trivial way.
Don't neglect the setup
All these steps allow you to launch a stream extremely quickly and easily, but there is still work to be done to optimize the broadcast. For example, it is necessary not to neglect the information of your channel, which will be visible to the users of the platform and which will guide viewers on the type of content you produce – even if it is occasionally.
We also recommend that you have a laptop handy in order to have access to the dashboard of your stream. This allows you, for example, to block malicious accounts, to manage certain parameters in real time or to have more information on the spectators as well as the chat which is not displayed.
