The Xiaomi 15 series should soon have a new major representative: the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The first two models in the range, the Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro, are available in China and should arrive in our countries very soon. An announcement around the Mobile World Congress (March 3 to 6) in Barcelona is likely, the brand having already confirmed its presence at this major event. The surprise could come from the Ultra version which starts at show itself, if we are to believe the images revealed by @gauravh1 and @That_Kartikey on X (ex-Twitter). The image shows the back of the smartphone and its impressive circular camera block, the flagship element of this photo-oriented series.
The first information to remember is that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra would benefit from a new coating on the back. It would only be available with a glass back that is both textured and rough, unlike previous Ultra models that offered ceramic or vegan leather options. We can assume that the manufacturer is looking to improve the grip and not make its flagship too slippery. The other striking element of this image is obviously the very imposing photo block that occupies the entire upper part of the back of the device. Circular, it looks a lot like that of the current Xiaomi 14 Ultra and consists of four cameras, an LED flash and the Leica logo.
An impressive photo part for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra
Very close to the design of its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra should be equipped with four photo sensors for a complete photographic experience. For several weeks, rumors have been suggesting the presence of a new 200 Mpx periscopic telephoto lens and a new 50 Mpx ultra wide-angle. Here is what the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's photo setup should look like:
- 50-megapixel main sensor with variable aperture (Sony LYT-900)
- 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle (Samsung ISOCELL JN5)
- 50-megapixel telephoto lens (Sony IMX858)
- 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens (Samsung S5KHP9)
The star of this system, the 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 periscope would provide a hybrid zoom of up to x100 assisted by AI. Xiaomi's approach would be reminiscent of Honor, which also offers a 200 Mpx telephoto lens on the Magic7 Pro with an AI-boosted Super Zoom function. In comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers the same main module, a different 50 Mpx ultra-wide-angle (Sony MX858) and two 50 Mpx telephoto lenses.
A premium smartphone
Focused on photography, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra does not forget to be a premium smartphone and its technical sheet looks promising. It would offer a 6.73-inch OLED screen displaying in 2K and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Qualcomm's latest, the Snapdragon 8 Elite would be in charge while a 6000 mAh battery would power the smartphone. True to its habits, Xiaomi would bet on a 90 W wired fast charge and 50 W wireless. The Ultra model would arrive directly under Android 15 with the HyperOS 2 overlay.
Like the previous model, we expect it to arrive with a dedicated photography kit as an accessory. Advanced features like eSIM or satellite communication are expected.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be a serious competitor in the high-end smartphone market, with photo performance potentially superior to that of Samsung's recent Galaxy S25 Ultra.
