In addition to renewing its Redmi Note 14, Xiaomi is still very interested in the smartwatch market in the entry-level segment with the Redmi Watch 5. Sold for €120, and even less with an immediate discount of €20 until January 29, the watch improves in terms of design with much thinner borders (2mm) than on the previous generation.
Value for money at the rendezvous
The Watch 5 integrates a 2-inch AMOLED screen (324 pixels per inch) and a brightness of 1500 nits. No miracle on the other hand for the refresh rate, which remains 60Hz. Xiaomi claims a battery life of up to 24 days for “typical use,” but it’s probably much less if you use the sports tracking features a lot.
Inside the case — whose design is obviously reminiscent of the Apple Watch — is a haptic motor that the brand announces as “quiet and precise.” The dual-microphone system should improve call quality even in noisy environments. Fitness tracking improves with a new algorithm for heart rate: it is 5.2% more accurate for cardio, and 10% for sleep tracking.
Xiaomi didn't stop there, since the manufacturer also unveiled two new pairs of wireless headphones that have in common the integration of active noise reduction (ANC). The Redmi Buds 6 can muffle ambient noise up to 49dB, enough to forget about light rain, keyboard noise or light traffic. Several ANC modes are offered.
These earphones also feature a dual microphone with background noise reduction (up to 9 m/s for wind) by AI, as well as 360-degree spatial listening. In terms of battery life, Xiaomi announces up to 10 hours of listening on a single charge or 42 hours with the case. All for €49.99.
Finally, the Buds 6 Pro put more emphasis on the quality of music listening with three Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified speakers, two PZT tweeters and an 11mm speaker. We also gain head tracking. ANC is obviously part of the party, this time up to 55dB. The promised autonomy is 9.5 hours on a charge, 36 hours with the case. Count on €79.99.
