Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 in France: price, characteristics, differences, we explain everything to you

In addition to the Buds 6 and a new Watch 5, Xiaomi is launching the Redmi Note 14 in France, after unveiling them last September in China. Five models, for five prices, which can be a bit complicated to navigate. So let's look at the prices on the French market and the main differences between the models in order.

Price and availability

The Redmi Note 14 series finally has official prices for the French market. They will be available from January 15. Here is the pricing policy:

  • The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G will be available in black, blue and purple, at 469 euros in 8 GB + 256 GB and 499 euros 12 GB + 512 GB.
Redmi Buds 6 are offered on mi.com.

  • The Redmi Note 14 Pro will be available in black, purple and blue at 349 euros in 8 GB + 256 GB and 399 euros in 12 GB + 512 GB.
  • The Redmi Note 14 5G will be available in black, purple and green at 299 euros in 8 GB + 256 GB. A good contender for the title of the best smartphones under 300 euros.
  • The Redmi Note 14 will be available on January 15 in black, purple, blue and green, at 199 euros in 6 GB + 128 GB and 249 euros in 8 GB + 256 GB.

Design: from the most solid to the least solid

Let's take a look at the notable differences between the models and start with the design. At the top of the new range, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ and Pro adopt Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68, certifications almost worthy of high-end smartphones. The rest of the range goes down a step in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for the glass and with a mix of IP 64 certification (Note 14 Pro and Note 14 5G) and IP 54 (Note 14). Waterproofing therefore remains reserved for the highest-end Redmi Note, the others being only water-resistant.

Note that in terms of design, the non-pro Redmi Note 14 benefits from a nice addition, a 3.5 mm jack port.

Note that for the screen, the entire range is based on Oled panels from 6.67 inches and 120 Hz. The Pro+ and Pro models go up to 3000 Nits of brightness according to the brand.

Photo: 200 and 108 Mpx

For the photo, it's quite simple, the models marked Pro see their main module equipped with a 200 Mpx sensor with optical stabilization. The others switch to a 108 Mpx sensor and lose the OIS.

As for the other modules, the entire range includes ultra-wide-angle modules with an 8 Mpx sensor and a 2 Mpx macro. The only exception is the Redmi Note 14 4G, which loses the ultra-wide angle in favor of a somewhat useless module, a 2 Mpx depth sensor.

On the selfie side, the entire range has a 20 Mpx sensor, except, and this is surprising, the Redmi Note14 Pro 4G which goes to 32 Mpx.

Performance: something to drink and eat

For performance, it will be difficult to find your way around, given that each model has a different chip. Note that eSIM and Bluetooth 5.4 support are reserved for the Pro+ and Pro 5G, the others moving to the previous generation (Bluetooth 5.3) and abandoning eSIM.

Software: HyperOS 1 only

Xiaomi's update policy for these devices will be four system updates provided and six years of security patches. Enough to ensure that your data is kept safe for more than half a decade, much longer than the average usage time of a smartphone of around four years.

Notably, this year, like last year, the Redmi Note 14s are being launched with a dated interface, HyperOS 1. They will probably benefit from HyperOS 2.0 soon, which is currently reserved for the Poco X7 Pro.

Speaking of exclusivity, Google's Surround to Search, one of the most popular AI features among users, will be present only on the Pro+ 5G and Pro 5G models. Gemini for its part will equip the entire range as is the case for all recent Android smartphones.

Battery: Has Xiaomi calmed down on fast charging?

On the battery and charging side, it is interesting to note that Xiaomi, once the champion of ultra-fast charging, has watered down on the subject. Only the highest-end Redmi Note 14 benefits from 120 W, the rest must make do with 45 W and 33 W. No charger will be provided in the box, Xiaomi being required to comply with European legislation. This prohibits the sale of a smartphone with a charger in the box without offering an alternative.
