A new unpublished God of War game expected in 2025?

A new unpublished God of War game expected in 2025?

This weekend, the God of War franchise celebrated its 20th anniversary. It was on March 22, 2005, that the very first game arrived on the PlayStation 2, and we had the opportunity to meet Kratos, the god of war who was preparing to become an icon of the PlayStation brand and video games over the years.

For several weeks, Kratos and the God of War series have been the subject of much discussion. Several rumors announce that many projects are in preparation and that they could be unveiled during the saga's 20th anniversary. Among these projects, there could even be a new video game!

A parallel story in Greece with Kratos?

A new unpublished God of War game expected in 2025?

For several months, a rumor has suggested that Sony, PlayStation, and Santa Monica Studio are preparing a compilation with a remaster (or remake) of the first God of War games released on PS2, PSP, and PS3, featuring Kratos' Greek period. Many rumors also point to the development of the next major and new game in the saga.

After the Nordic arc with God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022), many rumors now confirm an arc in Ancient Egypt. But here we are, a few days ago, a turnaround, since apparently, a new game in ancient Greece could see the light of day. And what if this game was ultimately a spin-off featuring Kratos in a parallel story?

Indeed, according to journalist Jez Grubb, who is generally well informed and who is not in the habit of releasing approximate information, a God of War game, which would take place in Greece with Kratos in a parallel story would be expected for this year 2025.

In this same post, on his Blue Sky account, Jeff Grubb implies that the famous compilation of remasters of the first God of War games could, ultimately, not be relevant.
