Nintendo is definitely determined to play with our emotions this week. The console that will succeed the Switch is long awaited, but the Kyoto firm prefers to chain together improbable announcements rather than prepare the ground for this future platform. Yesterday, we learned of the existence of Alarmo, a musical alarm clock designed to put a bit of video games in our “morning routine”. This product that came out of nowhere is already on sale in the United States and has just made its debut on the French My Nintendo Store today for the modest sum of 99.99 euros (yes, it stings). Less than 24 hours after this unexpected revelation, the manufacturer continues to intrigue its public with the deployment of a strange registration form.
Nintendo offers its Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack subscribers to participate in a test session for a new Nintendo Switch Online service that is still being kept secret. For now, no concrete information has been shared about this playtest, except for its terms and conditions and how it will be conducted. Here is everything you need to know in order to hope to participate.
How to participate in the mysterious playtest?
Starting this Thursday, October 10 at 5 p.m., subscribers will be able to register on this page in order to hope to participate in the test. It is specified that participants will be selected on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Applications will be open until Tuesday, October 15 at 4:59 p.m., but you won't be able to count on a spot unless you register tonight. Indeed, the small print on the site indicates that the playtest will include approximately 10,000 participants worldwide.
The test itself will take place from Thursday, October 24 (3 a.m.) to Wednesday, November 6 (1:59 a.m.) and will require the download of “dedicated software”. While we wait for more information, time and speculation.
A new selection of retro titles?
Since this test will be reserved for Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack subscribers, some are already imagining a new virtual console application on Nintendo Switch. After the addition of the Nintendo 64 and the Gameboy Advance in this subscription formula, is it finally time for the GameCube catalog to make its debut? Players are eagerly awaiting this new feature and it would be high time to see it land on the console. Unfortunately, only time will tell what Nintendo really has in store for its community. And you, what are your theories about this “new Nintendo Switch Online service”? And what do you expect from it?
