Amazon will add a new string to its bow by soon offering the possibility of buying used cars directly on its platform. A logical complement to the sale of new vehicles.
Think about any item that can be purchased as an individual. Now that that's done, type its name into the Amazon search bar. Without seeing your screen, we can say that results have been displayed. The online sales site offers so many products that it's almost impossible to find fault. Since 2024, Amazon has even been selling new cars. A partnership signed with Hyundai allows it to offer vehicles from the brand like any other item.
It's therefore not really a surprise to learn that the platform will go further by putting used cars up for sale. A new feature which is accompanied by the arrival of other car manufacturers in the fold of what is logically called Amazon Autos. “We are adding more and more dealerships and we are excited to add not only new inventory for these dealerships, but also used inventory,” announced Fan Jin, director of this division.
Amazon will offer used vehicles on its platform
The process will be slightly different from that of buying new vehicles, where everything happens online until the visit to the dealership at the end. The idea here would be to comment on the purchase online, go to the seller to take a test drive, and then finalize the transaction from Amazon. In the long term, the site would also like to sell extended warranties and maintenance contracts.

Selling cars on Amazon, whether new or used, is currently a possibility reserved for the United States. Visiting the dedicated page from France or another country simply indicates that Amazon Autos is not yet available. It's hard to say if this will ever be the case, but if it proves successful, the company would be wrong to deprive itself of a market potentially lucrative.
