For security reasons, Android Auto voluntarily limits scrolling, but for several weeks now, a bug seems to go further by completely blocking navigation in certain applications. Several users report that their playlists or podcast libraries systematically return to the top after scrolling through a few lines.
A scrolling problem that affects several music applications on Android Auto
This bug has been reported by many users since February 2025, with a surge in complaints on Google forums. The problem manifests itself by an inability to scroll lists beyond of a few elements before being automatically brought back to the beginning. Oddly enough, this malfunction only occurs when music is playing, as you can see below. When paused, scrolling returns to normal.
Several applications are affected, including Amazon Music, Podcast Addict, SoundCloud, and Qobuz, as well as other services that rely on the same Android Auto framework. The origin of the problem could therefore come from a recent system update, rather than a problem specific to the developers of the affected applications.
No official solution yet
Google has not yet communicated on a possible fix. This bug is reminiscent of another recent issue with YouTube Music, where the text search function was inoperable.
Until a fix is found, affected users have few options. One of the only alternatives is to temporarily pause the music to be able to navigate playlists properly. A frustrating constraint for those who frequently use Android Auto to listen to music or podcasts while driving.
