As announced a few weeks ago, the mobile game Animal Crossing is back in a new form. Launched in October 2017, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp closed its servers on November 28 after seven years of good and loyal service. Such is the fate of this kind of video game production. But rather than abandoning its entire community by reducing several years of play to nothing, Nintendo made a surprising decision to say the least. The small spin-off will continue thanks to: a new, somewhat modified version.
Online features and microtransactions disappear in favor of a full experience to be unlocked with a one-time purchase. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is available today on iOS and Android devices for an introductory price of just $9.99. Whether you want to pick up your game again or discover the game for the first time, here's what this new app offers.
New ways to play and share
The original version is no more, but players will be able to extend their experience. Multiplayer services, as well as the various shops and paid currencies, have all disappeared. From now on, all objects and other decorations can be obtained via a new free currency: Leaf Tokens. These can be obtained via in-game missions or by exchanging them for bells. There will never again be a need to spend real money to enhance your campsite.
With no online features, it is no longer possible to discover your friends' campsites. Players will now have to rely on a system of “CampiCards” share via QR code. The most creative will also be delighted to learn that Animal Crossing New Horizons design QR codes are now compatible with the app to obtain new clothes, paths, floors and much more. The possibilities are now endless and are no longer restricted behind microtransactions.
A new, unique area, Mont Chanson, also allows you to discover concerts by Kéké Laglisse for an even more authentic Animal Crossing experience. On the seasonal events, players will be able to discover a rotation of events that already existed on the original application, but also some new events that have not yet been revealed. If you want to return to Pocket Camp, act quickly: the application will be billed at €19.99 after January 31, 2025, so take advantage of the launch promotion while there is still time.
How to recover your save?
If you had taken care to connect your game to your Nintendo Account before the initial shutdown, all your data has been backed up and can be found in the new app. To do this, simply enter your Nintendo ID when launching the game. Otherwise, you will unfortunately be forced to start over. But this time: no need to spend in the app to get the camp of your dreams, so why not start over?
