ÇThat's it, Apple has just announced the deployment of its artificial intelligence service in Europe. The first beta version of iOS 18.4, available since February 21, 2025, finally introduces Apple Intelligence in French for users in the European Union. This news marks the end of a long waiting period for iPhone and iPad owners in France.
Originally launched in the United States in October 2024, Apple Intelligence had been delayed in Europe due to regulatory disagreements with the European Union. The Cupertino firm has finally resolved these obstacles, allowing French users to discover these new generative AI features. The final version of iOS 18.4, scheduled for April 2025, should offer an experience almost identical to that offered across the Atlantic.
This update brings a wide range of AI-based features, ranging from Siri improvements to image generation and advanced writing tools. Users will be able to benefit from automatic notification summaries, smart reply suggestions in Messages, and the ability to generate personalized emojis.
An ecosystem enriched by artificial intelligence
Apple Intelligence is not limited to iOS. The update also concerns macOS 15.4 and visionOS 2.4, thus extending AI capabilities to the entire Apple ecosystem. On Mac, the service has already been available in English since October 2024, but will now support French. The Apple Vision Pro will also benefit from these new features.
Notable innovations include the “Priority Notifications” feature that sorts messages by importance, as well as the ability to generate drawings via “Image Playgrounds”. The integration of ChatGPT into Siri will allow users to ask more complex questions and get more elaborate answers.
However, some features remain unavailable in French, such as the Apple product database to solve technical problems via Siri, or iPhone Mirroring to view the iPhone screen on a Mac.
To access Apple Intelligence, users will have to wait for the final version of iOS 18.4 scheduled for April, unless they participate in the beta program. The arrival of Apple Intelligence is a major step forward for Apple in its strategy to integrate AI into the heart of its products. It promises an enriched and more intuitive user experience for millions of French users, but all the features still need to be properly translated into our language by the time it is released.
