Netflix has released a new trailer for season 7 of the dystopian series Black Mirror. It features what appears to be a swipe at the Apple Vision Pro, more specifically at one of its iconic features.
If the dystopian series Black Mirror, which has been broadcast on Netflix since 2011, is so fascinating, it's surely because it cleverly uses the technologies that surround us by pushing them to the extreme. For example, we are not at the point where Some social networks and their rating systems determine several aspects of our lives (the episode “Freefall” from season 3), but we have very real examples of the excesses that these platforms can lead to. The same goes for virtual reality.
In its 7th season, Black Mirror will explore this area, among others. This is in any case what we can deduce from the new trailer published by Netflix, available at the end of this article. And who says VR says headset. At one minute and 27 seconds, we can actually see a character wearing one. If its overall design is more reminiscent of a modified Meta Quest Pro, what happens when the man presses the side of the device is clearly an unflattering reference to the Apple Vision Pro.
Black Mirror season 7 gently tackles the Apple Vision Pro
The gesture actually brings up a digital simulation of the actor's eyes. This is the famous EyeSight function of the Apple headset, supposed to make interactions with a Vision Pro wearer more natural, but which turns out to be rather disturbing. Especially since if the “eyes” follow horizontal head movements, they don't move when you move your head up and down.

The teams responsible for the series' special effects could very well have produced a much more realistic result. The fact that this is not the case suggests that this is a deliberately mocking wink. Black Mirror season 7 will be released on April 10, 2025 on Netflix. Remember that for the first time, it will contain an episode that will be the direct sequel to another.
