Disney+ has a nice surprise for Daredevil fans

This week on Disney+, it's a double dose of Daredevil: Born Again. To everyone's surprise, the American platform is abandoning its traditional streaming format to offer not one, but two episodes of its series starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio. Until now, only series introductions received such treatment within its catalog. This was also the case for Born Again, with episodes 1 and 2 available from the launch on March 5. Then, the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe promised to bring its fans together each week for a chapter until its conclusion seven weeks later.

Disney+ firmly believes in the importance of weekly broadcasts, and its ability to create an event and keep a series at the heart of discussions for longer. But why this sudden acceleration? What should we expect next week? Marvel is changing its approach given the importance of the last two episodes. Let's take stock.

A Tipping Point

Until now, Daredevil: Born Again has mainly illustrated Matt Murdock's rebirth and his return to the forefront after the Netflix series ended. Once the first traumatic episode was over, the series kept his character at away from his costume to better immortalize his return to action. Episodes 5 and 6 are a turning point for the Marvel series and probably wouldn't have had the same impact if a week separated the two parts. "Damages and Interests" confronts him with a situation that requires him to roll up his sleeves. With "Excessive Methods", he fully reconnects with the violence he thought buried as well as the importance of a vigilante for Hell's Kitchen. The two episodes are two sides of the same coin concerning Matt… but also Wilson Fisk.

The Kingpin also denies his true nature and seems on the verge of falling back into his old ways. If he doesn’t use force, he recruits zealous police officers to do the dirty work. It’s only a matter of time before Fisk and Murdock clash completely. And that will undoubtedly be the whole point of episode 7. No doubt, the cordiality between the Kingpin and the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will no longer be relevant.

And next week?

Don't get too excited, though, as next week should mark a return to normal for Daredevil: Born Again. Next Wednesday, viewers will be treated to Episode 8. This release will be the penultimate episode of the first season, which includes nine chapters. But fans of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen can already rejoice, as nine more episodes are scheduled for the coming years. The series has already been renewed, and we can expect the date to be set for next year. Daredevil: Born Again thus cultivates its singularity, while only one series developed on Disney+ has had the right to a season 2 in live action.
