While waiting to find out if a new Animal Crossing will be available at the launch of the Switch 2, fans of cozy games can set their sights on another gem of the genre: Fantasy life i: The Time Thief. This new installment of the Fantasy Life franchise – launched on Nintendo 3DS in 2012 – was initially supposed to join the Switch catalog in 2024 as an exclusive. After several postponements, players had to be patient, but their wait is finally about to be rewarded. To remain faithful to itself, this new part of Fantasy Life is postponed one last time and makes its launch official for May 21st. During its last conference, the Level-5 studio had nevertheless promised to launch its game in April.
A leak that accidentally appeared on the PlayStation Store on January 27th suggested that the life simulation would make its debut on multiple platforms starting April 23rd. It will finally be a month later with a release now confirmed on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S as well as on Steam for PC players. Level-5 has chosen a multiplatform strategy that will offer even more advantages to this already promising game.
An experience to share with everyone
In a new five-minute trailer shared today, Fantasy Life i offers us a final overview before its imminent launch. Thanks to the capabilities of current consoles, this sequel will offer a much more varied and immersive experience than on 3DS. The adventure aspect of the game will finally shine at its true value thanks to a much more interesting and developed scenario, while the professions and side quests should be less redundant.
The main charm of Fantasy Life i: The Time Thief will lie in the cooperative experience. In order to facilitate online gaming sessions, Level-5 has taken the time to integrate complete crossplay compatibility between all platforms. Players will be able to join their friends regardless of their console (or PC) of choice. It will be possible to share the adventure online in groups of four players, while a local cooperation mode will allow two players to help each other by simply connecting a second controller.
To top it all off, a save transfer system will also be part of the game. Players will therefore be able to decide to take the game to Switch and continue their game on another home console or PC once they return home. Enough to push gamers to pay several times: Level-5 has left nothing to chance.
