Forget Monster Hunter Wilds, this new game is a hit and surpasses everything

The launch of Monster Hunter Wilds with more than 8 million copies sold is impressive. From the start, the hunting game pulverized everything in its path, on consoles and PC. This new episode notably shattered records on Steam with a peak of 1,384,608 players. Thanks to this performance, it has become one of the most played in the history of Valve's platform. But an independent production is creating a surprise.

Monster Hunter Wilds is being overtaken on Steam

You can "forget" Monster Hunter Wilds if you're playing on PC, because a new Steam game is a hit and is outshining everything: Schedule I from TVGS studio. This indie title, released on March 24, 2025, puts you in the shoes of a drug dealer who moves to a city and has to start his business from scratch. "You are a small-time drug dealer who arrives in a new city with no money, no product, and no connections. Build your drug empire from the ground up in the West Coast town of Hyland Point. Face off against increasingly numerous law enforcement agencies and deadly cartels to expand your empire and rise to the top of the criminal underworld."

What does this have to do with Monster Hunter Wilds? On the game itself, absolutely nothing. However, there is a direct link with Capcom's software, which has just been overtaken by Schedule I. Currently, this independent title is second in the world's best-selling Steam titles, just behind Counter-Strike 2. We don't know the exact figures, but Schedule I seems to be selling very well. To give some context to this emerging success, here is the current top 10 for Steam international sales:

  1. Counter-Strike 2
  2. Schedule I
  3. R.E.P.O.
  4. The First Berserker: Khazan
  5. Assassin’s Creed Shadows
  6. Steam Deck
  7. Monster Hunter Wilds
  8. Apex Legends
  9. Split Fiction
  10. Cyberpunk 2077
