Announced at Summer Game Fest 2024, Gears of War E-Day is not expected to arrive this year. Microsoft reportedly has other plans in mind, such as the arrival of a compilation bringing together the first installments of the Gears of War series in an enhanced version for current consoles, including the PS5. This information was already relayed by some insiders, notably eXtas1s, who has been giving us exclusive information for several months.
Today, it is the journalist Jez Corden and the PlayStation Store backend who allow us to learn a little more about this compilation.
Gears of War Remastered: the compilation confirmed?
According to insider eXtas1s and now Windows Central journalist Jez Corden, there is no longer any doubt about the existence of the Gears of War Remastered compilation that could arrive as early as this year on Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS5. Jez Corden even provides additional information on X.com confirming that the game should not feature a competitive aspect, but that the co-op mode (local and online) should be present.
In another time, it seems that the PlayStation Store backend already has important and official information around this Gears of War compilation. According to Detective Seeds, still on X.com, the Gears of War Remastered file would be already present in the PlayStation Store source codes. This would have allowed access to part of the information, confirming the game's arrival on PS5, a PS5 Pro optimization, and the absence of online multiplayer. Cooperation is not yet confirmed on the PlayStation Store file.
So all this starts at becoming more and more official. All that's missing is an official announcement from Microsoft. For the moment, we don't know yet if this compilation will only include the first three Gears of War or if it will offer all the games in the saga, just to get back into the swing of things before the release of the next game next year.
