Announced during the State of Play in September 2024, we still have no news of Ghost of Yotei, the next game from Sucker Punch and the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, released in 2020 on PS4. Today, it is through a job offer on the studio's official website that we have confirmation that the title is still planned for 2025.
Ghost of Yotei, still planned for 2025
In September 2024, when it was announced, Ghost of Yotei confirmed its release date for the year 2025, without further details. Six months later, we haven't had any further information about the title, not even confirmation of a release this year. Today, a glimmer of hope is reborn for fans in the details of a job offer. The game is still expected in 2025.
We can read in this job offer, that the studio is looking for an "experienced community support specialist to help us launch Ghost of Yotei this year." We'll have to be content with this little piece of information, which confirms that the game is still planned, for the moment, for a 2025 release.
As a reminder, Ghost of Yotei will be the second game in Sucker Punch's "Ghost" license. It will not be a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, released in 2020 on PS4, then on PS5 in a Director's Cut. This new installment should immerse us in the shoes of Atsu, the new protagonist of the title. The game will take place in 1603, 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima and Jin Sakai's story.
The game will take us to the foot of Mount Yotei, now known as Hokkaido Prefecture, which was once called Ezo and was still outside the borders of Japan. The game is expected exclusively on PS5, this year, without further details.
