Three months after the previous State of Play (May 31, 2024), Sony gave us an appointment tonight to discover, as quite often in September, the future and the games that were going to make the heyday of its PS5 consoles (Slim, Standard and All Digital), its PlayStation VR2 (slightly abandoned), but also and above all, the future PS5 Pro at 800 euros. Because yes, to justify such a price, Sony had to react.
It must be said that since the PlayStation Showcase in September 2021, big announcements have started to be lacking on the Japanese manufacturer's side, with First-Party studios relatively absent. Of course, the PS5 is not short of games and exclusives, however, the future looks rather calm and Sony needed to reassure.
Here's what you shouldn't have missed tonight and the 20 games that will soon arrive on PS5, PS5 and PS5 Pro in the coming days and months.
Ghost of Yotei: the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima
It's official, Sucker Punch is indeed working on a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. The latter will be called Ghost of Yotei and will take us back to 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. You will be in the shoes of Atsu, a wandering warrior in feudal Japan who embarks on a journey into the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a region filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. The game is expected to be released in 2025 exclusively on PS5.
Horizon in the spotlight
As rumors suggested, a remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn (2017) is coming to PS5, but also to PC. The latter is expected for October 31, 2024. The latter will allow you to experience (or relive) the adventures of Aloy in the game Horizon Zero Down, released in March 2017 on PS4, then to extend the adventure with the Frozen Wild DLC. All with updated graphics, better resolution and much more. For PS4 players, it will be possible to upgrade to this remaster for 9.99 euros.
A few days later, from November 14, Aloy will once again be in the spotlight with LEGO Horizon Adventures, which will be released on PS5 and Switch. The perfect opportunity to dive back into the Horizon universe with some special guests in the colors of PlayStation heroes.
Astro Bot's free DLC
Team Asobi promised us a free DLC with additional levels. They quickly kept their promise! This fall, Astro Bot's little robots will be back with 5 new speedrun levels and the ability to compare your times online with players around the world and your friends. No less than 10 new robots to save will arrive in this free update, including the robots from Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade.
The line-up of games optimized for PS5 Pro
We expected a big promotion of the console, and yet, the PS5 Pro will have been rather discreet. Sony is still reserving the end of the State of Play to unveil a large part of the line-up of games that will be optimized on its next premium console at 800 euros which will arrive on November 7, 2024.
The improvements and optimization will allow for advanced ray tracing, ultra-sharp image clarity for your 4K TV and gameplay with improved frame rates. For some games, it will therefore be possible to play in 4K and 60 FPS (and even up to 120 FPS). This is made possible in particular thanks to PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) which allows you to have ultra-sharp image clarity on your 4K TV thanks to AI-enhanced resolution for ultra-high definition gaming with astonishing details.
List of games optimized for PS5 Pro:
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Horizon Forbidden West
- The Last Of Us Part.II Remastered
- Gran Turismo 7
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Alan Wake II
- Stellar Blade
- Dragon’s Dogma II

Soul Reaver Returns Late This Year
Get ready to experience (or rediscover) the legacy of Kain with the remasters of Soul Reaver 1 & 2 coming December 10, 2024 on PS5. The perfect opportunity to experience or relive the epic conflict between Kain and Raziel in its original form or with remastered graphics. Developed by the Aspyr teams, this compilation of remasters should follow the same basics as Tomb Raider I-III Remastered released at the beginning of the year.
VR (a little) highlighted
Since its launch in February 2023, we can't say that the PlayStation VR2 has been exploited. Quite the contrary. Sony's headset is seriously lacking in content and there are few big, convincing titles that could make players want to crack and invest 600 euros in a headset (in addition to 550 euros for the PS5). Tonight, a few titles were announced, including Hitman: World of Assassination, which will arrive in December (without further details) and which will offer you to visit 21 locations, with full dual-player handling and intuitive gestures, and the possibilities are endless.
This State of Play was also the occasion to present Metro Awakening once again with a release date set for November 7, 2024. This VR game will offer you a first-person story-driven adventure designed exclusively for VR that mixes atmospheric exploration, stealth and combat. This is the most immersive METRO experience yet written by series creator Dmitry Glukhovsky.
Metro Awakening takes you deep into the origin story of Khan, one of Metro’s most beloved characters, formerly known as Serdar. Driven by the need to find and save his wife Yana, Serdar is forced to embrace the unknown to battle bandits, mutants, and other lurking horrors. Manually reload, charge your gear, and scavenge to survive in this intense and immersive VR journey. Sometimes, to avoid something worse, you have to become what we fear.
Palworld now available on PS5
While we learned this week that Nintendo had just filed a complaint against Pocketpair, the developers of Palworld for patent infringement… The PS5 version of the title has just been made official during the State of Play. Better yet? It is already available and accessible from today. Now you can fight, farm, build, and work alongside mysterious creatures called Pals in this all-new open-world, multiplayer survival and crafting game!
Monster Hunter: Wilds Release Date
This State of Play also featured a new preview of Monster Hunter: Wilds, and a release date of February 28, 2025. Learn about the new, fearsome main monster in a new trailer filled with story anecdotes, monsters, details about the Scarlet Forest, and more.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard New Preview

Preview of the Alan Wake II DLC
Expected for October, the expansion The Lake House for Alan Wake II showed itself timidly during the State of Play. This DLC will allow you to dive into a poignant survival horror experience, in a strange new location on the banks of Cauldron Lake. Within the Federal Bureau of Control’s Lake House research station, a catastrophic event has occurred, where reckless experiments have caused reality to collide with the Dark Place. This expansion runs parallel to the main game, putting you in the shoes of FBC agent Kiran Estevez, played by Janina Gavankar.
Nier Automata DLC and Photo Mode for Stellar Blade
A Stellar Blade x Nier: Automata update is set to arrive later this year, along with an all-new Photo Mode. You’ll be able to choose your favorite poses, expressions, and filters to create the perfect photo! Keep the mood alive with the full original soundtrack, over 180 tracks from Stellar Blade now available on select streaming services.

Sony is preparing to launch a new “Chroma” collection on PS5 with three DualSense controllers and three faceplates. Choose from chic Chroma Pearl, vibrant Chroma Indigo, or cool Chroma Teal.
Pre-orders for the Chroma Collection will begin on October 3, 2024, with Chroma Pearl and Chroma Indigo accessories launching on November 7, 2024, followed by Chroma Teal accessories launching on January 23, 2025.

An eye-catching design in vibrant colors embodies the high-energy Fortnite spirit loved by players around the world. Pre-orders will begin on October 3, 2024.
The State of Play of September 24, 2024
That's it for the main announcements of the State of Play of September 24, 2024. Don't hesitate to watch the presentation again to discover the 20 games with the new Hell is Us license from Nacon, an action-adventure game set in a war-torn country, where players must unravel the mysteries of their past and confront the human darkness that fuels the chaos.
