Katy Perry will travel in space with Blue Origin

The company confirmed the presence of six passengers on board this NS-31 mission, the exact date of which has not yet been announced, but which is planned for this spring. Joining Katy Perry will be Jeff Bezos's partner and expedition organizer Lauren Sanchez, CBS anchor Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe.

All-female crew

This mission is a milestone for Blue Origin. "I am honored to lead a team of female explorers on an adventure that will change the way they see Earth," Sanchez said in a statement. Perry, meanwhile, She expressed her enthusiasm: "If someone had told me as a child that I would be part of the first all-female space crew, I would have believed it. Nothing was beyond my reach in my imagination."

New Shepard's flight will last approximately 11 minutes and reach an altitude of 105 km, crossing the Kármán line, considered the boundary of space. Entirely autonomous, the rocket requires no pilot and has already carried 52 passengers since its debut. Unlike longer orbital missions, this trip will offer a brief but immersive experience, allowing passengers to observe the curvature of the Earth and experience weightlessness for a few minutes before gently descending.

With this flight, Katy Perry joins the list of celebrities who have experienced space thanks to Blue Origin. Before her, William Shatner, the actor of Star Trek, and Michael Strahan, host of Good Morning America, have participated in similar missions. As for Jeff Bezos himself, he has taken part in her company's first manned mission in 2021.

This spaceflight also highlights careers that have marked recent history. Aisha Bowe, for example, is a fervent defender of the place of women in science and engineering. Amanda Nguyen, for her part, distinguished herself by campaigning for the rights of sexual assault survivors, helping to pass a law in the United States in their favor. This space trip is also an opportunity to celebrate committed and transformative journeys.

This space trip comes as Katy Perry prepares to begin her "Lifetimes Tour" on April 23, which suggests that her space trip will take place before that date. An experience that promises to be extraordinary for the pop star.
